Funfetti Cake Batter Milkshakes

August 29, 2013

:: Funfetti Cake Batter Milkshakes ::

What do you think of when you hear the word, “funfetti?”  You think of cake, sprinkles, confetti, & fun…. right?! Exactly! I knew when I heard of this cake batter milkshake that I had to blend up a batch for the kids! After all, what kid doesn’t love milkshakes & funfetti cake? The combination of funfetti cake mix + vanilla ice cream + milk = pure heaven {in my world}! I promise… it was just that!  [Read more…]

Homemade Fudgesicles

August 20, 2013

:: Homemade Fudgesicles ::

Homemade Fudgesicles are the perfect way to cool down on a hot day.  They are a simple and refreshing dessert that can be created with your kids.  Ice pops in general, feature a few quality ingredients that allow for a healthier dessert.  I don’t know about you, but in our house… dessert is a must! With my sweet tooth, and the kids following not far behind, homemade pops are easy to control the sugary sweetness. Not-to-mention, they only require a few simple tools to create. I like to use Tovolo Pop Molds.  This recipe can also be used with Zoku Quick Ice Pop Makers, or even using a small disposable water cup with old-fashioned wooden sticks.  My kids enjoyed helping and testing the chocolate mixture, as well as, having a taste or two of the chopped chocolate.  Home economics at it’s finest, allows for a teachable yet fun moment with family!  This classic recipe makes you remember why you loved getting one of these from the ice cream truck as a kid! Strawberry Lemon Zest Yogurt Pops

August 5, 2013

 :: Strawberry Lemon Zest Yogurt Pops ::

One of my dear friends gave me these Zoku Mini Pop Molds at the end of the school year for being one of her room parents {Such a great gift idea!}. Since we are nearly settled into our new house, I thought it was about time to pull them out of the box and whip up a delicious summer treat for my littles!

I don’t know about your kids, but mine rarely finish an entire large popsicle. Inevitably, it ends up as one sticky mess {which may be half the fun}! They either grow tired of the flavor, or end up dropping the leftovers on the ground, it seems. These Zoku Mini Pops are honestly the perfect size! While they are much smaller than your average ice pop, I did find that the kids were still able to spend several fun-filled minutes enjoying them! [Read more…]

Peanut Butter Malted Crunch Ice Cream

July 18, 2013

:: Peanut Butter Malted Crunch Ice Cream ::

Okay, so I am dealing with a slight addiction to ice boxed treats! I blame it on the heat, and the kids love of ice cream! Peanut Butter Malted Crunch Ice Cream has to be my most favorite ice cream recipe that I have made {as of late}.  Yes… I did say that about my Strawberry Ice Cream {but that was last weeks favorite flavor, wink}. This recipe is a creation based on my husband’s uncanny addiction to malted milk.  He always has to have a malt, not a shake, whenever we are at Ruby’s.  It inspired me to combine this with my love of peanut butter and white chocolate.  I apologize ahead of time! This ice cream recipe is addicting! I pray that I make it through the summer without gaining 10 pounds from this and any upcoming ice cream recipes. Making ice cream is easy and sharing is caring… so let’s make up a batch to beat this summer heat! [Read more…]

Strawberry Ice Cream

July 10, 2013

 :: Strawberry Ice Cream ::

It’s summer and it’s hot out there, so why not cool down with some Strawberry Ice Cream?  I know, I know… a few of you looked at the last ice cream post and have told me that you are too scared to make homemade ice cream.  Really, I promise it’s easy, and what is even easier is finding an abundance ripe strawberries during this time of year.  [Read more…]

Raspberry Vanilla Smoothie

July 3, 2013

As a busy mom of four, I gave up breakfasts that are time consuming long ago!  Although cereal, frozen waffles, granola bars & healthy homemade muffins are a staple in my home for the kids… I make myself a protein shake or smoothie almost every morning.  I love to experiment by adding greek yogurt to different types of fresh fruit & even veggies {such as spinach or kale}.  I typically sweeten {when needed} by adding honey, but you can always adjust that in the recipe to use your favorite sweetener.

This Raspberry Vanilla Smoothie recipe is packed full of high quality protein from the Fage Greek Yogurt I used {18 grams to be exact!}.  It’s also loaded with healthful antioxidants from the fresh, organic raspberries {to read more about the health benefits of raspberries click here}.  I made this recipe for my husby and I one morning.  My kids had a taste and LOVED it!  I ended up having to whip up more for my sweet little ones!  [Read more…]
