The Best advice from Glitter Inc.

:: Weekend Lovelies ::

Welcome to a much needed edition of Weekend Lovelies! Wow I don’t know about you, but I simply can not add one more to-do to the ongoing list of life.  Are we all on the same page with the end of the school year near? I feel like life seems to pack it all in at the end.  I am trying to have a little faith like the above noted lovely piece of advice from Glitter Inc.  I will have faith, and if not I will find a way to celebrate life and another year of health and happiness with my upcoming birthday! I will make it to next Saturday! Sara and I are excited to take in these life moments and all it’s celebrations next week.  Sara will be celebrating Seth’s 8th birthday, a much needed family trip, and Father’s Day.  I will be busy enjoying (I think) school field trips, a recital, my birthday, and Father’s Day. That being said we will be taking the week off from Simply.  We hope you all stay tuned and catch up on some of our posts you may have missed along the way.  We will be returning after next week.  Here were some of our posts from this week: Cheesy Tamale Pie and Mason Jar Succulents.  We hope you all take in these last school moments and enjoy the weekend.  Summer we can’t wait for you to greet us!

  1. Entertaining and hilarious, this epic drum off between Will Ferrell and Chad Smith is one to watch.
  2. Oh my I can’t imagine this day, The Words Get Stuck. Thanks Mamawolfe for your life lessons.
  3. I must have the girls over to celebrate summer with a Margarita Bar. How fun would this be?
  4. The kids will be snacking their way through summer. Let’s be prepared with these refreshing Kool Aid Ice Cubes.
  5. Nothing is better than a homemade card. Creative Father’s Day Cards for Kids to Make. You are one in a minion Dad!
  6. It’s time for the kids to have a few more chores added to their lists. Free Printable Chore Charts. Mama needs help.
  7. Birthdays and balloons go together like cake and frosting. These Marbled Balloons are gorgeous!
  8. I need to represent my M&M’s with these stamped necklaces. Birthday wish for sure.
  9. Holy cow, Strawberry Shortcake S’mores….oh my!
  10. I think these Lemonade Mimosas with Blood Orange are the perfect celebratory drink. Cheers!

Raise your hand if you’ve entered your last few weeks of school? Easy mason jar succulents.

I don’t know about you, but the list gets longer by the day filled with upcoming June birthdays and thank you gifts.  I planted the above potted succulents a couple years ago.  They started off as a small arrangement.  I have cut and replanted some of these succulents over time into pots in both my yard and house. When thinking about ways in which to thank and gift the special people on my to-give list, I figured why not create a cute succulent gift? Using inexpensive mason jars, mod podge, and succulents, this gift is a cinch.

Homeschool Room Tour

Homeschool Room TourHomeschool Room Tour //

Hey, friends! So… I’ve been wanting to do this post for a lonnng time! I was hoping to have our homeschool room completely finished before sharing pictures with you all… but that hasn’t exactly happened.  Like all of the other rooms in my house… it’s a work in progress! I still have dreams of getting the perfect velvety reading chair in the corner of the room, hanging a school house clock over the bookshelves, adding a fabulous rug, and doing some more personalized art projects with the kids. Hopefully over the summer we can put some finishing touches on the room!

What I do like best, is that it’s an eclectic space filled with things we love! Most of the time, my motto is ‘less is more,’ but not in this case! This room is brimming with art work, garland, and pops of cheerful colors… plus lots of natural light! It has proved to be the perfect spot for school work, board games, and art projects! It definitely has become our favorite room in the house!

Almond Butter Honey Yogurt Dip

May 27, 2014

Almond Butter Honey Yogurt Dip :: Almond Butter Honey Yogurt Dip ::

Summer is approaching… and pretty soon you may start feeling like you’re seriously living in the kitchen with the kids home! Having four children, I do in fact spend what feels like half of my day preparing healthy meals and snacks {especially since we homeschool}.

This Almond Butter Honey Yogurt Dip is a healthy and delicious snack idea that I got from Weelicious! The recipe only calls for three ingredients with an optional fourth, that I’ve added in. I eliminated use of refined sugars by using raw, unprocessed honey and sweetening it further with one ripe banana.     [Read more…]

I will run I will take an additional yoga class all to eat this Pan-Fried Onion Dip!  I promise you this will be the BEST onion dip you will ever make. It will have your doing back flips!  My friend Erica brought this amazing dip to a girl’s night I had a few years ago.  Just an excuse to get together with a couple of girl friends to watch a little Real Housewives of Orange County.  Yes, I know mindless television, but it allowed for us to catch up and hang out.  A couple of fun drinks plus some appetizers, made this for the perfect girls night in.  [Read more…]

Chocolate S’mores Treat

May 20, 2014

Chocolate S'mores Treat. Easy and chocolatey this recipe is a summer favorite. :: Chocolate S’mores Treat ::

Who is ready for summer? I can see the hands and hear the cheers! This Chocolate S’mores Treat is perfect for a last minute Memorial Weekend dessert. Chocolaty and easy this s’mores treat will make you the hit of your next barbeque!

I love the summer and I love last minute get-togethers.  Sometimes, I have a hard time keeping it simple.  I love having a few recipes that I know that I can whip up with as little effort as possible, and better yet something that does not require me to use my oven.  This recipe is just that.  It was introduced to me my one of my lovely neighbors years ago. We had this at every barbeque and get together during that season of our lives when we were newly married.  Our first home was a town house.  Our neighbors/friends were all around the same age and all at the same point in our lives. It was a great time in life.  We loved putting together events that involved food and fun. [Read more…]

Choose joy ....

:: Weekend Lovelies // doTERRA Giveaway Winner ::

I love the quote above… it’s such a good reminder that we need to choose joy daily. It’s honestly more of a mindset, don’t you think? Some people are so good at seeing the bright side of things, finding the good in all circumstances, and learning life’s lessons in every trial. For others, it’s definitely a struggle.

I tend to be one of those optimistic people… however lately, I’m not sure if I’d describe myself as such. Life has a way of wearing you out, doesn’t it? I know I’ve written about this before… but for me personally, I get bogged down with the day-to-day things of being a stay-at-home, homeschooling mama to four young children. I have this internal fight in me of wanting to go back to my profession as a school psychologist, but then also wanting to stay home with my kids during these years when they’re little. Of course, there is more than the mundane day-to-day things that get me down at times… it’s also the situational things that arise, as well. [Read more…]
