Weekend Lovelies

:: Weekend Lovelies ::

Hello, friends! Nicole and I are so glad that you’ve stopped by our blog to check out our latest finds and favorite things! Thanks for being here!

So, before we move on to our lovelies… how was your week? I celebrated my 36th birthday {gulp!} this past Tuesday! {I’m honestly starting to lose track!} Nicole was so thoughtful in dedicating her delicious Tres Leche Cupcake post to me! {Thanks, my friend… that was super sweet!} My family and I spent the day at the beach {my favorite place}, soaking up the crazy warm weather we’ve been having in Southern California! It was a wonderful day! Good food, sandy toes, warm sunshine, lots of smiles, and playing in the ocean always makes for a fabulous day! I am so thankful for another year! [Read more…]

:: Weekend Lovelies ::

Welcome Saturday! We are excited for this edition of weekend lovelies.  As always, we like to feature an eclectic mix of our favorite finds. With Thanksgiving this upcoming week, the holiday count down is on! The chilly weather that we have had this week made us start thinking of all things holiday including; the things in life that we are most thankful for.  Next week we plan to focus on some quality family time, as well as, feature some of our favorite last minute Thanksgiving recipes!  Sara and I hope that you have some wonderful upcoming plans for Thursday… or maybe you have a fun list to round up on Black Friday.  Whatever you have planned, we hope it is enjoyable!  We thank you so very much for stopping by and reading our little blog!  We wish you the most delightful week ahead!

Princess Machine // Goldieblox, Rube Goldberg, Beastie Boys

I love Good Morning America! One of my favorite segments on the show is their “Play of the Week.”  One of this weeks plays, was this lovely little video from Goldieblox.  They are a wonderful company that believes in engineering toys for girls in hopes of creating future inventors. This video features girls playing with more than dolls. They’re being scientist and inventors.  With the music of “Girls” by Beastie Boys, this is a fun treat!

Happy Saturday! What are you up to this weekend? Hopefully you have some fun plans mixed-in with some quality family time! This is actually our 50th Weekend Lovelies post! Wow! Time sure flies! As always… it’s an eclectic, but completely lovely mix of our favorite finds on the web during the last week. Thanks for stopping by our blog… we appreciate you all so much! We hope that you enjoy the links below… and of course, your weekend!

“We’re Going to Be Friends” // Caroline Pennell  Oh my goodness… Have you guys been watching The Voice? Caroline Pennell has been my {and Miss Sophia Blue’s} personal favorite this season. Her rendition of “We’re Going to Be Friends” plays on repeat {super loud} in our house. It puts a smile on my face every time I hear it! Can you believe this talented girl is only 17-years old? Amazing! You can download her music on iTunes!

:: Weekend Lovelies ::

Happy Weekend, Friends! Nicole and I hope that you are all doing well and enjoying the first weekend of November! Do you have any fun fall plans? If so… please share!

I’m personally hoping for a relaxing weekend spent at home… {As if that’s possible with four kids, right?!} We’ve been quite busy with homeschooling, family hikes {the photo above was taken on our hike last week}, and ballet rehearsals for Miss Sophia Blue, among other things! We got our first dusting of snow a couple of weeks ago! We are truly soaking up this lovely season of autumn, since it is all so new to us!

This edition of {weekend} lovelies is a mixture of pretty things… some comforting recipes, simple home design, DIY projects, the best crafting blogs, a love story, and more! I hope that you’re able to take a moment and enjoy them while sipping on your favorite warm drink!

Maple Brown Sugar Pumpkin Roll // Bakeaholic Mama I must make this dessert, simply based on how divine the filling looks! Oh my!

Maple Brown Sugar Pumpkin Roll

A Swedish Home // Scandinavian Home Blog I can’t resist Scandinavian design. I love the simplicity of the interiors with the abundance of fresh white paint and pops of color throughout.

Fall DIY Projects // Lily Shop I’m loving these three DIY crafts from the Lily Shop Blog! They all seem perfect for the approaching Thanksgiving holiday! Here are the links to the tutorials: 1. Gold Mason Jars | 2. Chalkboard Serving Trays  | 3. Paper Pumpkin

It’s {simply} Our One Year Blogiversary!

October 19, 2013

SIMPLY IS ONE YEAR!

It’s hard to believe… but it’s been ONE YEAR since we created and started blogging on Simply Happenstance! To celebrate, we had our talented friend and sorority sister, Candace Rock, take our photos!

We’ve learned so much over the past year… in fact, I think we both deserve honorary degrees in Technology and Social Media! There have been many highs and lows on this journey… but all-in-all, we are both so grateful for our site, for our loyal readers, for everyone we’ve met through social media, and most of all, for having each other to lean on throughout the past year. We’ve both driven our husbands completely crazy with late nights on the computer, tech lingo, and blog talk…. but, they’ve both been our biggest fans and sources of support! We can’t forget about our moms who seriously “like” all that we do and post on Facebook! Ha! Somedays… we think they may be the only two reading what we have written! {Thanks, P & P!}

We are very excited for what the future holds for {simply}. We now have advertising through BlogHer and Google, we’ve written two articles for a local magazine…. and have even worked with a few big brands! We are hopeful that with continued hard work, we will be able to encourage other moms and engrain a message for women to take time for themselves daily to do what they love and are passionate about. Hopefully our site brings smiles, laughs, a focus on the positive, and the lovely things in life. All too often, we get stuck in negativity, comparing ourselves to others, and only looking to the future to bring happiness instead of living in the ‘now.’ We both strive to keep things simple in our families, and to become more and more present with our children. We hope that message gets across in our online journaling.

We really hope that you will continue to stick by us on this journey. We adore your comments, feedback, and support! Words simply can’t express our gratitude for you reading our blog!

By the way…. instead of {weekend} lovelies… we decided to link some of our favorite posts and recipes from the past year!

  • For rapid leg weight loss, a combination of intense cardio and targeted leg exercises is key. High-impact activities like running, cycling, or jumping rope burn calories and reduce overall body fat. Adding exercises like squats, lunges, and leg lifts tones and strengthens the leg muscles, giving them a more defined, lean look. Pairing these exercises with a healthy, balanced diet will accelerate the process. #RapidLegWeightLoss #SexyLegs #FitnessJourney #LegToning #FatBurning #StrongLegs #CardioForLegs #HealthyLifestyle #LegDayWorkout
