Get ready for Fall with this Skillet Spiced Apple Crumble:: Skillet Spiced Apple Crumble ::

We love fall!  As soon as the temperature drops a couple degrees, I make this light and simple Skillet Spiced Apple Crumble.

Over the weekend my husband and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary.  We spent the day going back to the town and winery that we got married at.  It was a beautiful day out in Temecula.  The weather was cooler and there was a slight breeze, a relief from the heat that we have had here in Southern California.  I know that most people don’t think that we have much of a fall, but we do have a few slight changes when this season arrives. I took full advantage of this fall feeling and I made this special Skillet Spiced Apple Crumble for my hubby.  It’s one of his favorite desserts. It was our anniversary after all {wink}!

These Granny Smith Apples had inspired me.  Bright green and tart, they are the perfect combo for the sugar and spice that helps to create this fall dessert.

To make this dish, oh so simple, I invested in a Mandoline Slicer.  I am telling you, if you can… get one! I love slicing potatoes, tomatoes, garlic, and especially apples with it. It is a staple in my kitchen, along with my Lodge Skillet.  Both products are inexpensive and will be used over and over again.  I paid less than twenty dollars for each one of them.

After slicing the apples, you place them in the skillet.  They are powdered with the sugar and spice mixture…

And then a little bit of flavoring liquid {apple juice concentrate, and water} is poured over the apples.  A sprinkle of oats and brown sugar are placed on top.

Fall flavors made easy with this Skillet Spiced Apple Crumble.

And off to the oven this Skillet Spiced Apple Crumble goes.  You can eat it alone, as it is a lighter crumble– meaning fewer calories, or if you are like my husband, top it with homemade vanilla ice cream.  Welcome FALL… enjoy!
