The Annual Holiday Card

November 11, 2012

Ok so the pressure is upon us….well I guess just around the corner?

So many of my friends are chatting about when and where they will be taking their family photos

and what card company they will be using.  Pressure right?!!!

The pressure to find the perfect card the perfect picture where your family is in-sync.

Not to mention the preparation of coordinating the clothes and look you are hoping that

will transpire from your brain unto the actual photography shoot.

Pressure……plus holiday pressure…yuck!

What happened to the days when people sent cards and made going into a Hallmark

Store a priority so that the pressure of this one card was not so high,

{oh yes, I still do this too!}.

Or what if you were very pleased with your family photo and card from last year like I was.

I had a wonderful session with my family and the photographer,

my Best Friend captured who we

are at heart {Candace Rock Photography}, and then to top it off

I found a wonderful deal on a Tri-Fold card on heavy card stock.

Ideal in my eyes…..

And now I am in panic mode.

Due to a busy fall, I am behind some what.

I have not had time to coordinate with our photographer a day when we can take photos.

I have decided that though I would like a family photo on our card that I need to

take some of the pressure off of the situation and create a new idea that works for me.

I love photographing my children.

I have taken a few photography classes myself on how to use my camera properly.

I am not an expert but I did arrange for a photo session with the kids ONLY.

After the loss of three balloons and a broken lollipop I may have caught a moment or two.

The family photo will have to wait…..

{an expert is needed for this…thanks Candace, perfect for Christmas gifts!}

but for now I am happy with the product that I captured with my own two hands.

Though I am not part of the photo I can look back at this as a witness through my own lens.

Mind

October 19, 2012

On Tuesday I had to meet up with my client Dana Point Marina Inn.

Annually I take pictures of the hotel and its surrounding areas.

I love this time as I get a moment away from being Mommy and actually get to use my camera

and try to work on some of the skills from classes I have taken in the past.

I get to slow down and visually look at the beauty of this small town.

There are some amazing walking trails that have panoramic views of the Pacific.

I try to take this small amount of time,

when I am finished with taking photos,

to walk one of these trails and take the time to just “BE” in the moment and watch the fog roll out.

Here is what I got to view….pure beauty!

{xo, Nicole}
