Homemade Playdough

August 5, 2014

Easy to make jello scented homemade playdoh

:: Homemade Playdough ::

We love summer, but sometimes it can get a little busy.  How about some Homemade Playdough for those days when you spent a too much time in the sun!

The kids and I have had our share of the pool and beach time.  In fact lately, I think I might have experienced a little too much sun.  Yes, I have been responsible reapplying the sunscreen but after dozens of loads of beach towels, I decided it might be a good time to stay inside during the rain and make some Homemade Playdough. Changes on the Horizon

July 10, 2014

something beautiful is on the horizon...
:: Changes on the Horizon ::

Today marks our one-year anniversary on the mountain! In some ways it seems like we’ve been up here forever, in others… it seems like just yesterday we were waking up amongst the trees for the very first time.

Life in the Mountains-10

We have shared some of the sweetest moments as a family, creating memories that I hope will be imprinted in our minds for the rest of our lives.

Raise your hand if you’ve entered your last few weeks of school? Let’s save you some time, money, and the need to figure out your end of the year gift with these easy and cute Mason Jar Succulents!  These little pots of love are inexpensive, simple to make, and best of all… they don’t require a green thumb to keep alive.  Better than flowers and chocolates, your teachers or friends will love this gift!

Easy mason jar succulents.

I don’t know about you, but the list gets longer by the day filled with upcoming June birthdays and thank you gifts.  I planted the above potted succulents a couple years ago.  They started off as a small arrangement.  I have cut and replanted some of these succulents over time into pots in both my yard and house. When thinking about ways in which to thank and gift the special people on my to-give list, I figured why not create a cute succulent gift? Using inexpensive mason jars, mod podge, and succulents, this gift is a cinch.

Homeschool Room Tour

May 29, 2014

Homeschool Room TourHomeschool Room Tour //

Hey, friends! So… I’ve been wanting to do this post for a lonnng time! I was hoping to have our homeschool room completely finished before sharing pictures with you all… but that hasn’t exactly happened.  Like all of the other rooms in my house… it’s a work in progress! I still have dreams of getting the perfect velvety reading chair in the corner of the room, hanging a school house clock over the bookshelves, adding a fabulous rug, and doing some more personalized art projects with the kids. Hopefully over the summer we can put some finishing touches on the room!

What I do like best, is that it’s an eclectic space filled with things we love! Most of the time, my motto is ‘less is more,’ but not in this case! This room is brimming with art work, garland, and pops of cheerful colors… plus lots of natural light! It has proved to be the perfect spot for school work, board games, and art projects! It definitely has become our favorite room in the house!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

First and foremost I want to say THANK YOU to Sara and Nicole for featuring me on their blog. I’m so very thankful for this amazing opportunity to share with you all something that is so near and dear to me, and has changed my perspective on health and wellness. My mission began on March 3rd, 2006 the day that my first daughter was born. I, like most first time moms, had so many overwhelming emotions, so much joy and happiness, and also a little bit (or a lot-o- bit) of fear and anxiety. Is she hungry, gassy, or tired? Is she too hot, too cold? Does she have a fever? Is she getting enough milk? Does she even LIKE me? Why is she crying? How do I DO this?!?!?

Maui Trip // Life in Photos

Maui Trip

:: Maui Trip // Life in Photos ::

I can’t believe it’s already been a month since we left for our getaway to Maui, Hawaii! We had about three months leading up to the trip to prepare and anticipate all the fun we would have. Of course, five nights away flew by so quickly! Now it seems as if it were only a mere dream! I’ve had so much fun looking through our photos and thought that I’d share some favorites with you, but first…

Vacation Husband {simply happenstance} Our Trip to Maui in Photos

This was a trip for just the two of us! That’s right! {My saint of a mom willingly volunteered to watch our four little ones for the time we were gone! She didn’t just meet their everyday needs, you guys… she continued to homeschool them! We are so blessed by her! Thanks, Mom! You’re seriously –THE BEST!}

So, back to this “Vacation Husby” of mine… he was completely carefree and present! You see, he didn’t have to  wake up at 4 a.m. to go to work, make his two-hour commute, run to Trader Joe’s for me on his way home after a 72-hr. shift, fold laundry, cook dinner, or help with the bedtime routine! This guy was STRESS-FREE… and was clearly loving it! It was ah-mazing, if I do say so myself!

Trip to Maui

In all honesty, it really was a break that we both needed! Since our move last July to the mountains, and the start of our homeschooling journey this school year, I hadn’t been away from the kids {not even for a yoga class}. As much as I love and adore them… I was feeling a bit overwhelmed with life and the day-to-day routine. {I’m sure many of you can relate!}   [Read more…]
