Halloween Rice Krispie Treats

These Halloween Rice Krispie Treats are made even more delicious with the addition of Oreo's and colorful sprinkles! An instant kid favorite!

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 package marshmallows {10 ounces or about 40}
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 10 Oreos
  • Halloween colored sprinkles

Instructions

  • Coarsely crush 10 Oreos in a large zip block bag {using your hands, or a rolling pin}. Set aside.
  • In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
  • Add Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated. Quickly add in crushed Oreos and a few good dashes of sprinkles {a couple tablespoons worth}. Stir until even distributed.
  • Using a buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press the mixture into a 9 x 9 x 2 inch pan, that has been coated with cooking spray. {I used coconut oil spray.} Cool. Cut into squares and serve!
  • {If desired, refrigerate until firm {about 45-60 minutes}, cut into rectangles and insert a paper straw into each.}

Notes

Notes from the Original recipe:
For best results, use fresh marshmallows.
-1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow crème can be substituted for marshmallows.
-Diet, reduced calorie or tub margarine is not recommended.
-Store no more than two days at room temperature in airtight container.
-To freeze, place in layers separated by wax paper in airtight container. Freeze for up to 6 weeks. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.
