Happy 6th Birthday, Sophia Blue!

:: Happy 6th Birthday, Sophia Blue ::

My sweet, sweet girl… didn’t I just write about you turning 5? The year has quickly sped by…. leaving me wanting to turn back the clock, and experience the last year with you all over again.

You have grown so much this year… not only taller, but in maturity. A year ago, it was hard for me to imagine that you’d soon be starting Kindergarten. Now… First Grade is around summer’s bend. To be perfectly honest, you haven’t been crazy about homeschooling this year… mostly because you want to do your older brothers’ work, or play with your baby brother, Finn. You find coloring, cutting, and workbook pages to be “boring!” I’m constantly buying new curriculum for you… or searching the internet for projects that you’ll enjoy!

You still really love to help around the house, especially if it involves cooking or baking! You recently picked up a camera and shot some photos. I couldn’t believe your natural ability to capture beautiful moments, from your unique perspective. When you aren’t playing with your favorite dolls, you are typically singing, dancing, or tumbling around the house {or on the furniture!}. You pretty much provide us with constant entertainment!

You are the most amazing big sister, Sophia Blue! You love your baby brother more than anything! He follows you around… wearing your high heels, sparkly makeup, and tutu’s! He loves getting wrapped up in your imaginative games and practicing your fancy ballet moves! Lately, you’ve been telling your two oldest brothers that they are the “meanest brothers in the whole world!” {This is definitely a new phase we are going through.} Deep down… you do love them dearly, but those older brothers of yours LOVE to antagonize you {they really like to make you shriek!}. Although Mommy and Daddy do our best to keep the peace… we know that having three brothers will only make you stronger, more well-rounded, and confident in life. Promise! [Read more…]

Woodland Decor Inspiration

February 18, 2014

:: Woodland Decor Inspiration ::

Have you been noticing sweet little foxes, rabbits, deer, squirrels, and owls everywhere you look? I certainly have… and I LOVE it! I thought I’d share with you my top ten favorite Woodland Decor pieces for kids’ rooms!

Woodland Theme Inspiration {Simply Happenstance} #woodland #decor

Perhaps it’s our life in the mountains that has me enamored by these darling little forest creatures… or maybe it’s that they are all so cheery and whimsical! Whatever it is… I simply can’t get enough of all the fun decor possibilities! I am not a huge fan of themed rooms, but I think a sprinkling of what you currently love, is always a good thing when it comes to decorating! These ten would be super cute in a nursery, young child’s room, or even in a playroom!

be someone who makes someone else look forward to tomorrow {via simply happenstance}

 :: Weekend Lovelies {favorite things} ::

How was your LOVE day?! Perfectly romantic and exciting, I hope! My husby is currently working a 72-hr. shift, so the kids and I had fun crafting the day away! I stayed up entirely too late the night before, making heart garland, and preparing a festive table for them to wake up to. {I’m sure lots of us mamas were up late decorating for our sweet little ones!}

So… this weekend, Nicole and I have a fun list of favorites for you to enjoy! Some beauty, design, recipes, style… and even a darling video to share with you! If you are a blogger or have an Etsy shop, we’d be thrilled if you’d link-up to our favorite things! Enjoy the weekend, friends… and feel free to say “hello” by leaving a comment below! {xo} [Read more…]

Weekend Lovelies {favorite things}

January 18, 2014

 Winter Quote by John Boswell... {via Simply Happenstance}

 :: Weekend Lovelies {favorite things} ::

Happy Saturday! Nicole and I hope that you all have had a wonderful week! Any exciting plans this weekend? Since we have a firefighter schedule to work around, our family took a day {yesterday} to enjoy the beach! It was much needed {the quality family time, and the sunshine}! This weekend I’m hoping to catch up on the relentless pile of laundry, and get a little more organized. I tell myself every weekend that I am going to give my school room some of my undivided attention {so that I can plan some educational projects, and organize my teaching materials}. Unfortunately… it never seems to happen! {I’m wondering when you other homeschool mamas find time to plan and prepare for the weeks ahead. If you have any tips… I’d personally love to hear them!}

On a different note, you may have noticed that our Lovelies has been revamped! We are now including a link-up for all of you fabulously talented bloggers and Etsy Shop owners! We would love {love, love, love}, and appreciate you spreading the word, and linking up your favorite recent blog post to share with our readers! We know since our link-up is new… it will probably be slow to grow, but we are hopeful that in time, your blog or Etsy Shop will gain lots of exposure!   [Read more…]

Beauty… My Word for 2014

 :: Beauty… My Word for 2014 ::

With the beginning of 2014, I’ve noticed that several of my favorite blogs have posted their “best of 2013,” a look back in photographs, or a roundup of their top-rated recipes. A few have even chosen a single word to represent the New Year… a simple reminder of their personal goals for 2014. I loved this idea, so I decided to do the same.

Images via: Simply Happenstance BlogLooking back at 2013, I’d have to say that my word was TRUST. It was a big year for my family. Exactly a year ago marked our trip to Mammoth Lakes in California… which changed everything. It got us thinking… and talking… about our lives, our goals for our family, what we valued, and what our hopes were for our sweet four. [Read more…]

merry christmas {image via simply happenstance} :: Weekend Lovelies ::

So this is it! Christmas is in just a few short days! By now… you are all most likely prepared for family gatherings and gift giving. In case you’re not… here are a few more ideas! There’s a couple recipes, some DIY gifts, and some style inspiration. To top it off, we found a fun stamp project to do with your kids over Winter Break!

Nicole and I have decided to take next week off from the blog so that we can truly focus on spending time with our families. We are hoping to soak up this special time by baking with our children, listening to Christmas music, enjoying our recent snowfall {in the mountains}, spending some cuddle time with our husbands, and catching up with friends and family. We just wanted to wish you all the Merriest Christmas! May it be joyous and bright… and let’s not forget the true meaning behind CHRISTmas! {xo} [Read more…]
