- SMOOTHIE:
- 1 1/2 cups frozen fruit {I used an organic mix from Traders Joe's of bananas strawberries, pineapple, and mango}
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 cup raw spinach {optional}
- 2 tablespoons nut butter {natural almond or peanut butter}
- 3/4-1 cup liquid {almond milk cashew milk, coconut milk, water...} -- depending on desired consistency
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- ice {to thicken}
- {If you add a scoop of your favorite protein powder add in some extra liquid}
- *TOPPINGS:
- fresh sliced fruit {strawberries, blueberries, banana}
- granola
- unsweetened coconut
- slivered almonds
- sprinkling of chia seeds
- *With the exception of the fresh fruit the other toppings are great to get in the dry bin section of your local health food store.
In a blender, mix frozen fruit, banana, spinach {optional}, nut butter, liquid, chia seeds, and ice. Blend until thick and creamy. Add in more ice and/or liquid to obtain your desired consistency {remember... this is going into a bowl to eat with a spoon}! Pour into serving dish and top with your favorite toppings! Enjoy!
